How does my first build look? Is everything compatible and reasonable for a gaming setup?

I would recommend the 390 over the 970. You should consider going with a skylake build. What PSU is that?

I could put together a build on pcpartpicker.com for you.

why a 390?

i would appreciate a reference build on pc part picker

what is your budget? do you mind filling out rebates? do you live in the US?

I want to stay around $1000-$1100, no problem filling out rebates, live in US
I want it to be $1000-$1100 before rebates

So this will be able to handle high framerates and everything else associated with gaming nowadays?

why did you remove a cpu cooler, would it not be needed?

if i did want to change the case, how many internal bays of each size would i need? and what other specifications would i need to follow?

Man, you are awesome. This helped so much and I feel confident going forward from here
