Question How does the CPU temperature control system work

From my basic understanding, a digitcal IC temperature sensor measures the temperature of the CPU, the output from this is a DC voltage which is sent to the motherboard that controls fan speed (amplifier needed?). How exactly does the motherboard use information from the sensor in order to get the correct fan speed? Does the amplified voltage provide the source for the fans or something? Sorry if this is a dumb question

You have a fan curve in almost any bios, it has several entries that you can change, it's just a if temp=x degrees then fan=y rpm or %

Thank you for the response
Yh this makes sense but I was more thinking of the circuit itself, like how does the fan speed actually change in terms of inside the circuit
