Hi ,
I've just bought 2 X 1gb pc3200 ECC ram from ebay where the seller notified that it is a server ram but i ignored it bcz i don't know the difference between server and desktop pc , i thought they are same. But the problem is that when i insert this ram to my desktop pc which VIA PT800 it starts the CPU but doesn't display anything on moniter.
I want to know how this ram would be used in my desktop PC????

Thanks in advance for your help

VIA PT800 is a chipset, not a motherboard. If you use CPU-Z, Motherboard tab, what does it show? I haven't found any motherboard based on that chipset that supports ECC memory, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist. Yours definitely doesn't support it since ECC memory isn't recognized.

Looks like my ECS definitely no ECC support, voltage for ram is 2.5v, I advise not to buy 2.75v or 2.65v because using 2 sticks will never clear memory test even at +6% voltage. Will run DDR400 (PC3200) without a hitch if you buy 2.5v sticks. Everything else is in the details.
