How far can I take my CPU with GPUs

I currently have a Core i7 2600 non-k edition had it for quite a while and I not it's old. I currently have a GTX 770 Windforce but I was planning on upgrading it to a 980 sooner or later. Would that GPU be to powerful and be heldback by the 2600? or am I good, if not whats the best card I could get without having to upgrade my GPU

No what? No you don't need to upgrade or no, you need to upgrade. That review doesn't really tell me much on my CPU or atleast im not interpreting it right
