I have an old dell vostro 220 and I'm going to do some upgrades on it. The motherboard is a "Dell Inc. 0JJW8N." It has an old core 2 duo which I'm going to upgrade to a core 2 quad and I'm going to add a graphics card to it. It has 4gb of slow memory too. But my question is: Can I upgrade to 8gb of faster RAM with this motherboard??

Solution
With 2 memory slots 4GB is going to be about it. With that limit I have 2 suggestions. #1 consider starting with something better. #2 With 4GB memory capacity limit your video card to 1GB DDR5. Video cards use memory addresses from the "top down" to store textures etc. which will leave 3GB for the OS. If you put in a 2GB card the OS will struggle with 2GB RAM. DDR5 will give good frame rates, 1GB will work OK as long as you don't try to run big screens (high resolutions).
