How fast will the 1180 be?

I was getting myself the GTX 1080 for myself for 1080P gaming in August, but Nvidia is launching the 1180 this Summer or maybe in October. So, I have a budget of $1K for the GPU only and I want to have the latest hardware for my first rig so it can last long enough for 1080P 144Hz Ultra. I know the 1180 will be an overkill for 1080P 144Hz but I'm a competitive gamer and I may upgrade to 1440P with the passage of time. My question here is that how fast will the 1180 be from 1080-Ti & 1080. I have read articles and everything but they're giving me mix signals. Some says 50% above the 1080 and 10-15% above the 1080-Ti while others say 20-30% above 1080 and 5-10% above 1080-Ti. So, is it worth waiting for the 1180?

In PC world it's always the best choice to wait, but if you need the GPU now, get the best you can get from this generation. If it's not that urgent, see what the next gen has to offer. I mean, whatever you get, the next gen will always better and there is no "best" choice, just the best you can get for now. The only factor is time, which is only for you to decide.
