As for "future-proof" .... historically, if you buy the top end card, you are generally able to "get by" for 3 years..... if you but two of the 3rd tier cards in SLI, 4 years before you are going to find things starting to get unplayable.
Uhh... 10? 20? By what I can kind of make out from your post, you want to play new and upcoming releases on Ultra, with 3d vision. So I'm going to stick to my estimate of 10 or 20.

And there's no such thing as future proof, stop it.

3D vision or not i'm under the impression that 2Gb are not enough anymore. Wolfenstein and Watch dogs made the beginning and more will follow. For the ultra settings you'll need more then 2Gb in the newer games i think. I have the Gtx670 2gb, i play Wolfenstein at 60 fps with all the settings that the 2gb ALOUD to be played, so i can't play at ultra although the card is not working at it's limit.!:fou:

On YouTube i have seen games are running good on ultra settings. .. .. Watchdogs also... except texture.... . Texture is on high...... Because it requires 3gb memory..
