Ok...the question I asked may not be ideal or the best but this internet speed thing is confusing me a lot.

My brother told me that I have more than enough speeds to watch stuff and download stuff with just 60mbps and my upload speeds of 70mbps is ridiculously huge enough that it's more than enough. All because I am using this router Asus RT AC53 as a repeater as I can't use lan from where I am right now.

My question is...is it fast enough for browsing on stuff and uploading YouTube videos and through cloud(I'm a youtuber that's why) or not?

you have to look at the fine print for any plan. most of them offer "up to" a certain speed, but does not guarantee you will see that actual speed.

plus you are limited by the slowest part of any connection. if you are downloading from a server than can only give you 1 mb/s, then that's all you can get from it. time of day and many other factors have to be considered as well. you have to look at each specific site/time/service attempted on a case by case to decide what is going on.

there is no one explenation that can explain everything you experience as you work with the internet.

it is ample for browsing and streaming video. 1080p takes about 5 mb/s and 4k is about 15 mb/s

that's why it is more than enough. basic browsing takes almost nothing and is not really a consideration. you'll be fine with those speeds for basic use. you really only need high speeds for mass data transfer.

its probably good enough for 8k really

there are entire countries that would love that speed. the upload is like 3x what I get now... not that I upload anything.
i get 65/20 and I haven't thought about internet speed at all in several years. Faster doesn't really mean much to me.

Ok then I need to know some questions on this.

Firstly why do advertisements and everyone else advertise it showing 150 200 and whatever high mbps? Because there has to be some catch in this...

Secondly, if my upload speeds are high then why does filezilla take forever to send my files to my brother's server(who is from usa)? Because logically he should have gotten all my files by now so what gives.

Same goes for MEGA cloud. Why is it taking long to upload the files like limiting to 1mbps?

Will this also be enough for online gaming? If so then I'm really going to think about this as the reason I hesitated in online was because of the lack of LAN support...

And lastly...if the router behaving as a repeater us able to give that much, then what is the catch?

My plan is slow compared to many other nations. People in US can get Gigabit plans and download way faster than I can. I don't have access to those plans or speeds here. Other people in my country would love to have the speed I get. Its all relative.

I have 100/100.

Gigabit is readily available, if I wanted to pay for it.
I see zero need to increase my monthly bill by even $1 for that...the 100/100 is just fine.

if you almost the last connection on a node it can also reduce speed. depends on how many users between you and a faster box. I should get 75/25 but best I see is 69/20 because we at end of the line.

Still beats dial up. I didn't start at 75 so I don't expect more...

right. you are buying a router capable of certain speeds. that only means it can do it, if your isp can provide it.

kind of like a highway. you can build an 8 lane wide, straight, flat super highway that a car can go 300 mph on. that does not mean your 4 banger '85 escort will all of a sudden do 300 mph. it just means the road can handle more, if you give it more.
