What would be the discrete equivalent? Is it better or worse than a r7 240? What about a r7 250?
The integrated GPU in that is about equal to an R7 240-250. It is a great GPU for being integrated and can even run a game like BF4 at Ultra 1080p around 15-20 fps.
AMD advertises it as roughly the equivalent of an R7 dedicated GPU. Some say it crossfires the best with the R7 250, so that's probably the closest comparison you're gonna get with an actual graphics card. It's good for light gaming and multimedia, but far weaker than any R9 series card.
I feel like I'd get better performance buying an Ivy Bridge Pentium from microcenter for $40 and getting a r7 260x to go with it. That costs the same as the APU
I just spent $2300 on a Razer Blade and I'm selling my gaming desktop to save money as I don't need it anymore. Just looking to build this as a desktop to have at home capable of light gaming.
I have a budget of $220 for CPU, GPU, Motherboard, RAM, PSU
Looking at pcpartpicker and microcenter, I found these prices
Pentium: $40
r7 260x: $70
Gigabyte H81 Motherboard: $45
Corsair Builder 430W PSU: $25
8GB 1600mhz RAM: $36 (since when was RAM so expensive?)
