It hit me just recently (or maybe it did before, but I had simply went along) that my pursue for a more powerfull GPU is getting ridiculous at some point. Do I really need a GPU that will give me 120 fps on average at 1920p? Because that's what I play on. I don't see a reason to go beyond 27" screen @ FHD.
I'm used to 25fps videos, tv is on the same framerate for a reason - it is smooth enough for human eye. Let's have it at 50 fps just to be buttersmooth. Isn't a RX 6500 enough for the time being to get that - with full details with current games, medium settings for a few more years, and I don't think raytracing is usefull at all.
And I like to have my computers quiet and low power. A 65W 5600g (that serves me good for now) plus a dedicated ~70W GPU is something that should fullfill that and give 50 fps for few years ahead.

if the 50fps are smooth for you, nothing against it :) but also frametime and lowest fps while gaming is a factor for GPUs. It could stutter if it can´t handle 50fps all the time, but it´s a personal thing.
cinema 25fps videos and gaming with 25fps can be quite different

maybe this can help understanding, but still it´s your personal feeling. If 50 is good, then all fine.
Others would not even consider "only" gaming @ 120 or 200fps.

Thanks. That article did add some interesting points for me, eg fps vs type of games, that I think I was aware, however it's just nicely laid out there.

Having a GPU capable of 50 fps without stutter should be enough for casual gamer like myself. I think I read that it's possible to limit fps in card settings to limit power draw as well, right? Is it available for AMD cards as well?

Some people are very sensitive to lower frames. For me, lower frame rates cause motion sickness. I don’t have the issue with movies, but I want to hurl while playing anything under 40 or so. Screen refresh and hertz also play a part in that. If you don’t have any issues playing at 30 frames, and you feel like it looks good enough, I say that’s alright.
