How important is a CPU when it comes to gaming?

So Im customizing my own computer but my money only goes so far. right now i am thinking about an i3 -4150 3.5 Ghz processor and putting more money down on an Nvidia Geforce GT 740m. I guess what my real question is, if i get this processor will games like DayZ Standalone still run really well? Also 8GB of RAM and 1 TB hardrive if that matters.

This is a desktop and currently im on Walmart.com build your own gaming desktop. My budget is i would say $610.00 but i would be willing to increase if necessary.

As wallaby says above - build your own mate - Walmart will rob you on prices.
Quick build thrown together with a high spec GPU,aftermarket cooler ,& a 120gb ssd + a 1tb hard drive too.

Build it yourself is a better route to take.

You wouldn't need a CPU cooler unless you overclock and an SSD is greatly recommend but not needed for gaming.

^ at $13 at the moment you might as well just throw one in - both Intel & amd stock coolers are fairly rank IMO - agreed on the ssd if budget is tight but once you've used a system with one in its hard to go back.
Irregardless the Walmart prices are horrendous for the specs you get - would not entertain buying from there
Tiger direct have some very good bundles at the moment & are worth a look.

Do NOT buy a Cyberpowerpc or Ibuypower. they have horrible reviews and cost way too much.
