Building new pc specs as follows

Asrock z77 extreme4 mobo
Core i5 3570k oc'd to 4.4ghz
Evga gtx 1070 ftw gpu
16gb 1666 ddr3 ram
Seasonic prime 650w gold
Mushkin 128gb ssd
Cryorig r1 cpu air cooler and maintaining temps around 78 to 80 at full load.
Only plan to use 1080p monitor for the next few years.

I am a casual gamer and I binge play games maybe 2 to 3 months in a year on average and also use oculus rift the most couple of hours a day, so how long can i future proof this set up, thank you in advance for any thoughts.

I am aware that it is old generation but for my needs it suits well, may be I will rephrase my question, how long will this set up be able to play future games that use current or next few year technologies.

With that GPU I'd say 3 years min. I'm still rocking an i5 760 (it's from 2010) @ 3.6 GHz, coupled with an R9 390. And it runs just about everything I've thrown at it (and I'm talking AAA games here) at on or near ultra settings at 1200p @30+ fps.

5+ years if you don't mind lowering details or skipping some of the most demanding future games. Single-threaded performance hasn't increased that much since Sandy Bridge and I don't expect massively multi-threaded games to be the norm any time soon either.

You have a very good GPU and your System otherwise is pretty solid. I would say easily 5 years if not more, especially if you are willing to drop some details 4-5 years down the line in the newest titles.

Unless there is some massive improvement in CPUs in the future which is looking increasingly unlikely.

I thank each and everyone for the comments, by the way I bought cryorig r1 air cooler as I was hesitant with water cpu cooler leaking and damaging mono, cryorig r1 seems to be the best air cooler available and its huge with 2 fans and 12 heatpipes, is that good enough to keep my oc'd you for a fairly long run.
