ASUS advertises on one of their boards a 5,000 hr Solid State Capacitor life. So if you run a pc 24/7 would that mean it will last around 209 days? What am I understanding wrong here?

some vendors use words as sales spifs. some mb vendors say they use military spec parts. older mb use to use paste caps and they used to leak after a few years. the newer mb dont have that issue. as long as you use a good mb and power in your area is clean and dont have brown outs or spikes a pc mb should last you a long time.
That's just what it's guaranteed for not what you could expect. I don't know about running 24/7 but with general usage motherboards should last at least 5 years. Most of the time the cpu becomes outdated and requires and upgrade before the motherboard goes out.

I wanted to reply with your quote and ended up hitting the best answer button for you! Anyway, 5,000 hours sounded pretty good until I whipped out my trusty calculator and saw the facts.
