How long should an iPhone 7+ take to charge?

I got mine yesterday and it had no power so it couldn't start without being plugged in first. Going from 0 - 100 took about 5 hours which strikes me as a really long time. The battery lasted over a day (24+ hours) and it had 50 something percent left when I put it back on charge using my iPad adaptor. It's been about 2 to 3 hours and it's at 97% (at last check, maybe it's done). Can't find a straight answer for how long i should expect it to take.

EDIT: I know my iPad Pro takes a long time to go from 0 - 100 (or anything to 100). I haven't timed it though

The iPhone 7 series is EOL so I wouldn't doubt if it's software sided that's causing charging issues.
