How long will my CPU last if i overclock it ?

Hi , i want to overclock my CPU but my schoolmate , who is very into CPU things , told me that my CPU would burn in 3 years if i overclock it .
The CPU is AMD FX-8350
it is 4GHz and i was thinking of overclocking it to 4,99 .After my schoolmate said what will happen to my CPU i thought of overclocking it to 4.2GHz , since it's unlocked.But again , my schoolmate said that it will burn in a few years.
So i am asking wheter his statement is true or false ?

If you even have to ask this then you have no business overclocking.

It's almost impossible to tell, every chip is different and there is safe and unsafe overclocking. Do some more research, make sure you have good cooling and you should be fine.

I wouldn't attempt it until you feel like you have enough knowledge of the process and what to expect.
