How Long Will This i7 Last?

Hey there, I recently came across an i7 4770 for a killer deal. It's been used, though, for 4 years. I am looking to upgrade my budget build which has a Pentium G3258 at its heart. How long do you think this particular i7 would last before problems or failure arise, assuming that it has seen (1) casual, everyday use or (2) hardcore gaming use over the past 4 years?

He is correct. A couple more things though. Make sure your motherboard can handle the extra voltage this cpu will require. Also make sure that the bios is up to date for the cpu.

My bad, I accidentally misclicked the downvote on your answer. However, just to be clear, the CPU will not physically fail on me anytime soon, would it? (Considering how long it's been used for)

If it is the "k" version the answer might be different. But since this is the locked version of this cpu, and as long as the motherboard is compatible it will be fine.

I have it and run it, works fine currently on ultra spec on latest games. Hasn't started to show age at all

I have a 9 year old i7 950, always been in a gaming rig, but has never been overclocked. May do this soon just as an experiment. Place bets as to how long it will last after the O/C!..... ? Silicone lottery time....

I have an i7 4790, bought it last year brand new for 200$ 😀 Im quite sure my cpu and yours will last us atleast 3/4 more years and probably even more.
