So i just wanna know how many fan headers does the asus h97 plus have i think i read somewhere that it has 2 cpu fan headers and 3 system fan headers. If it doesent tell me if a molex to 3 pin will work.

Thx.

Do note that H97 and Z170 cannot run the same CPUs. The Z170 can run Skylake chips (i3, i5, i7-6xxx), but the H97 can only run Haswell chips (i3, i5, i7-4xxx) and that the Z170 needs DDR4 while H97 uses DDR3 (and H97 can't overclock but Z97 can). If you already chose a CPU and RAM, then you are locked into one of those two but if you are deciding whether to go Haswell or Skylake, I'd nudge you towards Skylake simply because it is newer.

That board has 5 fan headers, looks like there's no problem using 3 pin fans there. The Corsair AF140 Quiet is a 24dB fan, AF120 Quiet is 21dB, and the AF120 Performance is 30dB. Remember these are taken at 1m and the way they combine is non-linear. Two equal fans adds 3dB, four adds 6dB, and eight...

Remember these are taken at 1m and the way they combine is non-linear. Two equal fans adds 3dB, four adds 6dB, and eight adds 9dB (so a 30dB fan is like eight 21dB fans). For different decibel ratings you need to combine them according to 10 log10(sum 10^(db/10)), meaning that a 25dB and a 28dB fan would combine to 10 log10(10^2.5 + 10^2.8) ~ 29.8dB.

Note also that reviews indicate these fans are louder than they are rated: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9737/the-corsair-sp140-led-af140-led-sp120-af120-fan-review/4

Here the 30dB rated fan measures 39dB, and the 21dB rated fan measures 34dB. This means the AF120 Performance is similar to four AF120 Quiets. There is no AF140 Performance.

Tnaks yes i do know that thoose motherboards are different and thanks for the recomendation about the motherboards so if i understand correctly i could use 3 sys fan headers on the motherboard one cpu fan header for the cpu cooler and the other cpu fan haeder aswell?
