how many hz can display port 1.2 support

I just want to know why my monitor is capped at 60 hz with the display port. it is a bexq xl2430t and with the dvi it supports 144hz. I'm confused!

You should be able to get 144 hz, check your settings for your game like v sync would lower it or check if the advanced settings for screen resolution are set to 144 hz
