Question How Much Better Is A On Screen Keyboard For Security

I was just wondering. How much safer is using a on screen keyboard provided by reputable Antivirus programs for inputting passwords? I imagine for starters it would prevent potential keyloggers from tracking your keys. I did some reading online and couldn't really find anything sufficient.

Is it slightly better? Better then nothing? Or makes zero difference at all.

bit better, a hardware keylogger which would be plugged in between usb port and usb keyboard wouldn´t work

a virus or trojan usually can detect such inputs as well
