How much better is the 1070 vs 980?

I was wanting to know if the geforce gtx 1070 was better than the geforce gtx 980?
If so, what's the main difference that makes it out perform the other gc?
I know the geforce gtx 1070 and 980 can run all games on max settings but also will the geforce gtx 1060 run all games on max settings?

The answer mostly depends on the resolution.

GTX 1070 , GTX 980 and GTX 1060 will be handle a good 1080p gaming experience, where 1070 > 980 > 1060.

More than that. It's about double for 2k and up. Maybe 1080P might be 35% since the CPU is the bottleneck at that point. Not to mention it has 8GB of VRAM that really helps out in big open world games. "Raw" benchmark preformance it's slightly faster than a GTX 980 Ti/ Titan X (Maxwell) at stock speeds. overclocked it is very much the same as 980 SLI.
