hello !

could someone who's expert or happend to own a gtx 970 strix
tell us how much watt does it use , on averge not max ( i can't get the max one from asus , it says 225 )

i wanna know on averge not oc nor stressed out , just sitting there playing at lower resalotion than 1080
mine is 1024p is way lower than 1080p i heard

so if someone could help me with that , that would be awsome !

i mean i dont want my rig to use more than 350 > 400 watt

This may help.

Please note that while having XXX number of watts is not always enough. You need to know how much of that is on the 12 volt rail as well. That card is VERY power friendly(lighter games with frame rate limits will use less power as well). Power supply quality is also very important.

I would like to point out that power supplies are rated on output not input, so making 400 watts for a system will take over 400 watts at the wall(how much depends on the efficiency of the unit).

I do not know of too many single video card systems with these new power friendly parts getting over 350-400 watts anyway(these parts have very short pulses of very high power). Tom's...
but what i want to know is it okay to pair a 500 watt psu with 360 watt UPS ?
i mean there's 140 watt messing ? or am i the one who's messing something 😀
anyway if that's wrong , well i would sell it and my gpu might buy a new ups with 600 watt

Its not recommended but plenty of people do it.
A 500w psu is not continually pumping out 500w,at 80% efficiency it will be using from the socket whatever your pc is using +20% (roughly but normally less)

Ive said before your cpu at 80% usage,a 970 at 60% usage, equates to about 170w,add in a sensible amount like 80w for the rest of the system & thats 250w,factor in 20% & it sits around 320w total - thats an estimation but a reasonably accurate one as far as im concerned.I personally think you ll be fine if that UPS is for your sole use in your room for your pc.
If your power situation is temporary then bear in mind ( I dont think anyone else has mentioned this?) that using msi afterburner (which is software based but is capable of low level instruction with a 970) you can physically limit the max power that a 970 can use - you could limit it down to less than 100w when gaming for the time being & still get reasonable performance out of it at your monitors resolution.

I see lots has been added and covered here.

1. That is card power consumption alone.

2. In your case the 2 rails do add up, but it is not always the case. Always confirm with the combined rating(watts / 12 = amps and amps x 12 = watts for 12 volt systems).

Reference image to show rail adding does not always work :). This is my media center power supply(i5 750 + GTX 650ti). been going strong for years.

3. Others have already covered factory overclocks. Even each card with this boost feature will clock to a different top an anyway(all happens automatically). I had 2 identical cards and one clocked it self higher than the other.
