[SOLVED] How much of an upgrade from fx 6300- to fx8350

The 8350 is on sale right now, and I am on the fence about picking it up..Monster Hunter is playable on my lil 6300,but I think the 8350 would help make the game run a bit better

Won't help , not worth the $$$. Save for a new Ryzen core: Board , CPU , DDR4.

Not a good thing to do.
What you get is two more cores that are the same speed as your 6300.
Likely, you do not need the 6 threads you now have.

As an experiment, try removing one core. You can do this in the windows msconfig boot advanced options option.
You will need to reboot for the change to take effect. Set the number of threads to less than you have.
This will tell you how sensitive your games are to the benefits of many threads.
If you see little difference, your game does not need all the threads you have.
