How much overhead psu and buying psu cable

2 questions,

A) how much overhead should my psu be if my maximum expected wattage is 300w, also I will be overclocking, so is a 650w EVGA g3 suitable?

B) I’m planning on buying a psu from amazon (America) and I realised I’ll have to buy a 3 pin cable as the PowerPoints are different here (Australia) so basically is any 3 pin cable safe to use, even if it’s not the standard one that came with the psu.

Most power supplies run at optimal efficiency when a 50% load is put on the PSU. Since the newer, better PSUs are 650W instead of 600W I would say 650W is perfect.

I would consider buying the SeaSonic FOCUS+ instead. The 750W is on sale for the same price. SeaSonic may very well send you a cable for free. But is a 750w overhead too much? I can get the EVGA g3 750w for $10 more than the 650w on sale so is it worth it? Or will it even work with so much Overhead

Well the SeaSonic comes with a 10 year warranty instead of 7 year. But both are good units. SeaSonic makes their own power supplies while EVGA has someone else make their power supplies (Super Flower makes the G3). So I'd imagine you'd get a better value from SeaSonic.

You can't really have too much overhead unless you want optimal efficiency for your electric cost on a system that will be running a lot. And even then it would only amount to a very small percentage difference. Less than 1% difference in power efficiency on the SeaSonic if you're between 165W-385W load. The EVGA is about the same. JohnnyGuru didn't review the 650W or I'd have those posted.
