How run games in directx9 mode?

windows7 has dx11 installed which can run directx9 games too because it's backwards compatible,but the problem
is that due to better looking graphics in dx11 supporting games,dx11 decreases my fps also(just an hd 5670)...how run them in
dx9 mode so that i don't lose performance?

You will need to change the settings in each games graphics option section, as this is not controlled by Windows but by the game.

Also, while the installation of DirectX on Windows 7 can run DX9 titles, it is not fully compatible, some games will crash if you do not update the DirectX installation, easiest way to do so is to download a DirectX redist from Microsoft.

really?isn't there any modifications known for this other than changing settings of game?also many games don't have setting of
selecting directx and my hd5670 can barely run any new games with dx11 enabled

and also should i install latest redist of dx9 or dx11 as i think you are saying preinstalled dx11 is not properly functioning for all dx9 games?

If the game has no option to change the version of DX that it is running, it is in all likelihood running DX9 as most games are still coded for this.

The 5670 is not a strong gaming card, so depending on the resolution you are running your games at, you will need to change the graphics settings in games for as smooth a gameplay as possible.

Yes, download the DX9 update, either the web installer or the complete distribution package.
