So I built my own pc, im familiar with the components and such, but ive never even attempted to update a bios. Im looking into upgrading my CPU, which means ill have to update the bios to one that supports it. Currently being on version 2605, with a date ranging back to 2019, i need to update to ATLEAST 4801. Ive watched a video on how to flash versions with a USB, but its my understanding this board offers updating via internet aswell? Will that work, and if so is there any disadvantages to this over using a USB?
Edit- im changing CPUs from a R7 2700 to probably a R7 5700X

Solution
The only practical advantage is you can update without using a USB thumb drive. However, you must also ensure a stable internet connection while the update is going on. There likely isn't any danger if the connection drops, but you'll just have to do it again.

Personally, I don't enable the network stack in BIOS. It sounds too much of a risk to me. Plus thumb drives are cheap.
