You're testing drives that were manufactured in China and only have a 2 year warranty now. Seagate Corporate in America is the only entity that can change the warranty,, that's the only sign I need to prove that China can't produce the same quality disc drives as in the past. Manufacturing in Singapore and Thailand never prompted any serious changes like that, the government just got wise and started demanding more money for their workforce and in turn they rioted and lost their jobs to China, lol !

3 and 4 TB drives have a far higher failure rate across the board. From above links:

I don't know if I'd trust Backblaze numbers and why are they using desktop drives for handle their back-up business?

And sales are sales, and when customers that have used mainly Seagate drives switch to Toshiba and WD that speaks volumes more then someones numbers.

Because they are cheaper:

http://tinyurl.com/jnwa9j5

Almost 1/3 of the price of a Enterprise grade HDD.

But what makes someone else experience more viable than anyone else? I have had a lot of experience with failing HDDs and have had almost no Seagates fail me and when I worked in repair the amount of WDs, Seagates and Toshibas that failed were pretty even considering what we sold. The worst we had were the first generation Toshiba 7mm 2.5' HDDs. Those were failing left and right.

My HDs Seagate fail in desktop pc

Yes, and they (desktop drives) last around a year to a year & and a half and they can't warranty them, so they have to buy new drives. So for the warranty on a Raid drive is 5 years so If the raid drives last 5 years under heavy use. And desktop drives will last a little over a year in a Heavy duty Raid environment you'd have to replace it 3-5 times over the life time of RAID drive I don't see the saving especially when you add in labor.

I still have nightmares about the IBM DEATHSTARS, lol and now Hitachi who bought the HDD line from IBM are some of the best drives. I feel they are all about the same, and one thing for sure they will all fail at sometime usually when you least expect it. Sometimes it seems a brand will go thru a bad batch, but usually that is temporary.

That is the only explanation I have. Why else would they use drives not rated for 24x7 operation or heavy load? If a consumer drive does last as long they save a ton of money.

Well the only explanation that fits is their crazy or stupid or both, lol.
