How should I prep my windows 7 OS for an motherboard exchange

Currently I am using an intel motherboard and am planning to switch to an amd motherboard. I want to keep my current OS and data along with it. How should I prepare my computer to boot up after I install my new motherboard? Also, I have heard of sysprep, has anyone has success with that?

back up all your data you want to keep onto a flash drive, and then do the mobo swap, and try to boot. most likely, it will not boot, and then you will need to re-install windows.

but if i use sysprep, won't it generalize everything for me and allow me to keep the current windows on boot?

you can try it, but dont be surprised if it doesnt work.
