How should I set up my Internet

I live in an apartment with 3 other people, and have guests every week. My computer is in my room, while the modem and wireless router is in the living room. The distance between my future PC and the modem would probably be 20 ft. 25 feet at the most. I would go with a cable, but it's too messy, and people would trip. I was wondering if I could get my hands on those guns the Cox people use to attach cables to the walls. Do you know what that's called? I'm really looking to that option, for I would be doing lots of multiplayer gaming.

The other option would wireless internet, which would much more convenient. Already have a 300mbp/s router set-up. And I could spend no more than $25 on a wireless adapter.

Any ideas on what I should go with. If you guys can find a nice, non messy way to get the cable set-up, I would go with that 100%.

50' of Cat5e is $10 at Amazon. Box of cable nail clips, maybe $3. Hammer...which you need anyway and forever...$5-10.

Any one of a thousand variation of this:

Available at your local hardware store. Routed creatively, and no one will notice it is there.

Does COX use a staple gun with the right staples to hold the cable? That would be as easy as a trip to the hardware store :)

Something like this e-bay image

Another option you have not looked at may be HomePlug

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomePlug
https://www.homeplug.org/home/

While not as fast as wired, It should have a more solid ping then wireless. If you have dual band wireless, it is not as bad as the 2.4 only stuff that picks up interference from all kinds of devices.

Yes, it's more or less like that. @nukemaster, yes it's a staple gun. Would microcenter have them? or Home depot?

Print that picture. Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Show someone the pic and ask - "Where can I find these?"
Then look in the tool section for a hammer.

So I basically just hammer it down?

Pretty much, yeah.
For a 25' distance, get a 50' ethernet cable to allow for running along the walls around the room(s).

You might want to use pliers to hold the clip so you don't bang your fingers. Make sure you don't squeeze the cable when you hammer the nail in.

Thanks for the help, you too nukemaster. Any ideas on average costs? For the cable and staples?
