How to add an SSD as a second non-boot drive with an HDD as primary in Windows 7

I am a novice and am now trying to add a 64GB SSD to my system as secondary storage while keeping my 500GB HDD as primary boot drive. I am running Windows 7 HP (32-bit). Have done all of the hardware connections but have not booted the system. Would like to know what potential issues there might be, Have also installed the SanDisk 32GB ReadyCache SSD. Need guidance please.

Just a suggestion here, but I promise you that you will gain far more in speed/performance if you use the SSD as your primary boot drive. That is where an SSD really shines. I will be more than glad to help guide you through doing this if you would like. And if you haven't already bought the 64GB SSD, I would HIGHLY suggest this SSD:

It's a 120GB drive, and is one of the best performing drives on the market. At 90 dollars you can't beat the price either! This drive is plenty big enough to put your OS and all programs on it, as well as any frequently accessed files. As I said earlier, this is where an SSD really does shine. You want your OS and programs on it so that you can benefit from the speed of the SSD during booting your computer and opening/running programs. Conventional HDD's are best suited for mass storage of files that aren't really used that often, such as pictures and videos.

I think that adding that SSD on your system shouldn't be a problem. But I would prefer that SSD to be a system/boot drive for faster system response if I were you.

As everyone says use your SSD as primary boot drive . . . .although I would go for a minimum 128 GB . . . I had a 128 GB SSD and it was about 50% used by the time I upgraded to a 480 GB main SSD boot drive with a 960 GB SSD as a secondary SDD drive for game storage then an array of hard drives for less speed critical things - iTunes etc.

A high-end SSD really is amazing. I have a 512GB Samsung 840 Pro in my Windows 8.1 desktop. Boot time from a cold start is less than 15 seconds. It is literally around 10 times as fast as a conventional HDD.
