Hi,

I'm wondering how to make task manager start with Windows 10 minimized to the tray. The problem is, despite replicating what I did in Windows 7 (adding taskmgr.exe to startup folder), I cannot get it to work on Windows 10 at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yea I've tried this. This was the method I used in Win7, but no will not work in Windows 10 unfortunately.

I gave both steps another shot after putting windows 10 to default settings. The shortcut is in the startup folder, but it still won't will run LOL... I have no idea what's going on. I attached an image to what I've done, hopefully correctly. If there any more suggestions, I'll be more than willing to try.

Okay, so this works almost perfect. Only thing is, it won't obey when I set it to minimize by the system clock. Essentially it minimizes, but the icon still shows. Is there any way around that? I followed the video but it seems it may be stuck like this. Thanks for your all your help though, I really appreciate it. Lots of google didn't get me anywhere

Think in one of the actions you take is an option to hide it when active so it doesn't show on tool bar. He did this at the 2.15 mark

if you talking about desktop, perhaps you should make it in another folder so its not on desktop

Yea, I made sure hidden was checked in Task Scheduler and 'Hide when minimized' was selected in task manager itself, but it seems that it ignores these parameters and starts up in both the area by the system clock and in the taskbar.

Also, it seems to blink orange during system startups which is kinda annoying. Hope to get rid of that. Windows 10 is such a pain sometimes :/

Think he said it would flash at start up. its odd i never thought to have it auto start, i have it open almost all the time as i like to see what PC is doing. Its not so bad i have stopped all the random things it used to do.

not much you can do when you do things and windows ignores it.

Yup, both 'minimize on use' and 'hide when minimized' are selected. I tried a combination of both options selected, and only one of them. Seems to make no difference.
