How to adjust CPU Voltages?

Hey all, I'm a complete noob when it comes to this and basically I'm just trying to lower the voltages on my cpu. When I went into my BIOS all I got were these options. So how do I lower voltages?

Also my cpu is a Phenom 965 @ 3.4ghz stock, Asus Cool & Quiet says it's on 1.5v when I hit the "High performance" mode. And this is the reason why it heats up, I'm trying to lower it to 1.4v but I'm not sure how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

It would probably be under tools or advanced. Somewhere in the BIOS, you need to turn an option from auto to manual. Or at least that's how I do it.

Lowering V of cpu will make it crush, same as over or under clocking.

Lovering CPU V even by .1 can make it unstable,


Reason why AMD heats up not that, mostly its improper installed Heat sink, or just to dirty

I have used every AMD CPU and none would overheat under normal condition and normal Voltage,

I don' think I've got a choice here as my voltages are at 1.5v and that's at stock, it's supposed to be at 1.4v max. This causes it to heat up but I just noticed that if I choose "Power saver" option the temps drop to 30's. Right now it heats up to 50+ celsius and it's not even under load.

Also could it be dust that is causing my cpu voltage to increase? There seems to be an accumulation of dust on the heatsink of my cpu.

You can learn to overclock just fine. There's nothing wrong with lowering the voltage slightly. Look around your BIOS. The only thing you need to worry about is to make sure you don't lower it by a huge amount in one go. Go very slowly.

Alright after doing some more research I just found out that I can't manually set voltages for my mobo (M3A76-CM) as it only gives me 4 options which are power savings mode, standard, +50mv or +100mv. It seems that others with the same mobo and cpu have the same issues as me. Only work around I found were to set the pc on "Power Saver" mode which drops the voltages to 1.1v which fixes my heat problem at the cost of performance.
