based on cpu's specs, x4 b55 processor - 3.3GHz

does it mean that all 4 cores should have a total of at least 3.3GHz or all cores should run approx 3.3GHz?

re-locking the 4th core can be done in the BIOS page right?

All 4 cores should be 3.3 at 100% load, if working correctly. And yes, just re-lock the 4th core in the BIOS by doing the reverse of what you did to unlock it.

so this is how it should look like:

freq #0: 3300MHz - full load
freq #1: 3300MHz - full load
freq #2: 3300MHz - full load
freq #3: 3300MHz - full load

right?

against what i got earlier when i went home:

freq #0: 800MHz - full load
freq #1: 800MHz - full load
freq #2: 800MHz - full load
freq #3: 800MHz - full load

@djdecibeL: regarding the Vcore? should it adjust automatically as the test runs or do i have to do it manually? in the event that i'll revert it to tricore then get a higher value, does it still mean that i got a bad cpu? thanks for all your help. sorry for the trouble...

Yeah, the first part is what it SHOULD look like. But yeah, the Vcore should adjust itself automatically.

If you go back to 3 cores and it works, that's a good thing actually. Like I've said before, you were never meant to use that CPU as a quad core anyway. That's why it's an X3. Not broken, but exactly how it should be.

any applications that is accurate when it comes to the speed listed above? i just viewed it using Core Temp. I don't know if it's accurate or not or if it gives the correct value of the freq #s but i presume since it has accurate readings with the Temps. Worst is, both tri and quad cores have the same value then i got a busted cpu. does it happen quite often?

1 more thing..when i ran the stress test, i checked task manager, 100% on all CPUs but for the RAM (since i got 8GB) it only reached 2.6+GB. is this normal for win7 ultimate 64bit?

with the link that you provided, i believe the 1st part is the CPU details right? it says intel i5 3.20GHz..when should i base my speed, core speed or bus speed. also, looking at the picture (from the link) system has 3.20GHz but core speed is aroung 1999MHz

Sorry, I had to go out for a bit. Anyway, it should be saying 3.2Ghz at 100% load. The Core Speed under the Clocks section is what you should be looking at, along with Multiplier. The voltage will either be listed like it is in the reference pic or it may be listed as VID.

Can you Validate it for me while you're stress testing and post the link to the validation? (Should look like what I have in my signature)

For the RAM, is it only showing 2.6GB total or 2.6GB in use? 2.6GB in use is totally normal and expected for the full stress test (testing both CPU and RAM).

there you go, that post answered my question regarding the RAM running @ 2.6GB during the test. so it's normal then

i'm still in the office and i guess this is the only way to communicate with you guys. i'll try to run the test first later then at the same time i can use validate tab/button while it's still running the test?

i check the link posted a couple of days back: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/264583-11-help-phenom-overclocking

looks like that setup is for OC. picture says that multiplier/adjust cpu ration is 19 with its frequency at 3800MHz. i haven't touched the bios and changed anything there because i believe that changing any settings there would be considered as OC. thanks djdecibeL for the time sir...

but the problem is when running the test, it's stuck at 800MHz and doesn't go higher than that. i'll try to go online later but i'll check cpu-z first and check again. if negative, will check the bios page. as my colleague told me, that main reference is the BIOS, as long as it says "4 cores activated @ 3.3GHz," it's ok. do you agree?

You know what? Try this when you get home: Go to Control Panel and then Power Options and select the High Performance power plan. That should take idle out of the equation because it will force it to max speed even at 0% usage.

If it's stuck at 800Mhz in Windows, that's NOT OK, no matter what the BIOS says.

Just upload it to a site like Photobucket. It'll give you a link that you can post here (either a thumbnail or full size).

Should look something like this, for full size.

@djdecibeL: before anything else, thanks for all the advice 😀

i tried all the options that you've given me apparently i ended up relocking the 4th core:

here are my inputs:

freq #0: 3300.08-09 MHz (200 x 16.5)
freq #1: 3300.08-09 MHz (200 x 16.5)
freq #2: 3300.08-09 MHz (200 x 16.5)

i ran the torture test and cpu temp reached 63C and mobo had 44-46C per PC probe, HWmonitor and core temp: CPU #0: 53C - 70 (min/max)

when i ran the test for more than an hour, those are my stats, no errros, BSOD, Vcore changed to 1.45 from 1.12 (when it was at 4 cores running)

also, my WEI (windows exp index) has changed with processor: 6.9 from 3.7 - ram: 7.2 from 4.5

i'm just concern about my temp..is this all good? where can i verify in HWmonitor the correct temp of my CPU since on the application, we have heaps of temps listed there or any suggestion what apps can i use (accurate enough) to check my temp?

thank you so much for all the help..btw, does this mean that the 4th core i unlocked is BUSTED? thanks! appreciate it!

Looking good now! 😀 The temps are a tad high, but nothing to be concerned about, and you're checking them right. They seem like very normal temps.

But yeah, the 4th core seems to have been faulty, which is why it was locked in the first place.
