How to Clear a Write-Protected DVDRW Disk

Hey guys! 😀

So I have a disk (CD-DVD) and when I try opening it, it's a flash program because it's a program on it. So it has some space and I really want to clear all of the disk's current data. When I try some ways like formatting, it says "The disk is write protected." So my question is, how do I disable this? I really need to clear everything and get it over with. How do I disable "Write Protection" on a Disk, not USB Drive. It's in my D Drive.

If you or someone finalised it you cant undo it

If it's a DVD-R and it's been finalized, then you can't write to it or change anything on it anymore.

If it's a DVD-RW that's been finalized, then you can't make changes to it. However, you can erase it (not format it). This will wipe everything off the disc making it like new. So copy the files you want, erase it, then you can rewrite the stuff you want to it.

Basically, the way DVD-R and DVD-RW works is:

- Start with a blank disc.
- Write data to it (formatting is writing data to it).
- If you overwrite data, it doesn't really overwrite it, it writes the new data and tells the computer to ignore the old data.
- When you finalize it, you prevent any more data being written to it (effectively making it read-only).
- (Only available on DVD-RW) You can erase it to turn it back into a blank disc.

Altho I wouldn't rely on rw anything. Theyre not reliable

So if I can clear it, can I use it to save my own files?

If you can clear it yes but like said above wouldn't trust it since its been written on already.
