How to configure Linksys Router and TP LINK router to the same network?

Hi.. I have two Wireless routers.. As my house bit huge one with 3600 sq.ft with two floors.. I live in 1st floor floor where as the Router(Linksys) is in 2nd floor.. It was so difficult to get the signals, so I bought up another Router(TP Link). I want to connect both the routers to the same network and increase my signals by placing them on each floor. How can I configure? Now, my primary Router is TP Link and secondary would be Linksys. Is this combination is good one or not?

P.S: Model numbers of the routers..

Linksys: WRT54GS
TP Link: TL- MR3420

Simple to understand and you should be able to connect two routers to extend the wireless range.
One is classed as a repeater.

Much better solution for you will be wired connection between routers and AP configuration on second router.

If you can't get Ethernet cable between the routers, think about powerline networking.

Set up second router as an access point and turn off dhcp.
