Hi everyone, I was wondering if there is a possible way to connect a laptop to a desktop so that the laptop screen can be a second (or in my case) third monitor. Also is there a way to connect my laptop so that it's harddrive can be seen in my desktops 'This PC' so that I can move files back and forth while it's connected. I know a usb to usb data transfer cable can do this, but would that work while projecting my desktop onto the laptop screen?

Solution
Getting your desktop screen on your laptop is near impossible.
All of the other sharing of files is easy with Ethernet, WiFi, or USB direct connect.
You need to set up file and folder sharing,Turn network discovery on and place them in the same workgroup.
You can also create a home group for both and connect for media sharing etc...
But the third monitor probably aint going to happen.

The reason that a laptop won't work as a "2nd/3rd" monitor is that there's no video input port on laptops. The video ports are output only. Per the previous post, file sharing is easy. Just search for guides on the web on how to set up a home network.
