how to connect acoustic guitar to computer

Hii my name is Vic,

Recently I bought an acoustic guitar , simple acoustic guitar with electric jack ( something like that on the bottom), my question is - how to connect that acoustic guitar to PC, I tried several times but failed, I Dont have amp , but have all the wires like , basically not wires its connecters to connect that guitar with PC its a 3.5 mm connector , do I need a software to connect that guitar to PC , and I have creative 2.1 speakers , please tell me how to connect please.

Try connecting your acoustic guitar through the MIC slot. Then, select the setting as microphone if it appears.

I do try connecting that guitar to MIC slot.but nothing pops up, but when I go to sound settings then there it shows MIC is connected, and all I do there in the settings of the microphone is click on play back through speakers , after that a buzzy sound comes up from speakers , but nothing happens at all. no guitar sound , nothing like that.
And do i need a software ? like virtual amp.!!!! or something else?
