How to connect my desktop to a wi-fi?

so we bought this wi-fi and i found it easy connecting my laptop to it. i have no problems and it was detected instantly by it but when i unplug my internet connection of my desktop computer ( i want to try my wi-fi with my desktop because the internet service provider of my wi-fi is faster and more efficient here in our area), i can't find a way on how to detect it. i have clicked everything and still, it can't be detected. what should i do? my desktop is a HP s5390d. tnx!

if it does not come with a wireless network card, get a USB wireless.

I don't see how a wireless is faster and more reliable than a wired connection.

i do have a wireless card & it does pick up the wireless connection but still wont connect to the interent due to it saying the local network cable has been unplugged?
