I have a AT&T Uverse modem and I have WiFi set up for my computer and printer-scanner.

You need to connect via a HDMI 1.4A or VGA cable, depending on model of TV.

HDMI will also channel sound, while VGA, you may need to use a 3.5inch-2-3.5inch audio jack cable.

HDMI is the best choice, if both laptop and TV support it and you don't need an expensive fancy one, I paid £5 of Amazon.
