Question How to connect my Z690 Hero Max to Focusrite Clarrett via Thunderbolt

My Asus Z690 Hero Maximus has two TB4 ports, and my audio interface (Focusrite Clarrett 2Pre) has a TB3 port. Connecting them with a Thunderbolt cable doesn't work, probably because I'm trying to pair a TB3 port to a TB4. Can this be resolved with a TB4 to TB3 adapter, and if so, which kind.

Thx

They are backwards compatible.

Your board has 2x Thunderbolt ports, yes but you have 3x ports that look like type-C ports. They are listed in your motherboard manual;
page 2-29

and you might want to download drivers from here;
then install them in an elevated command, if you're on Windows OS, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

No luck

After reading, it turns out that the Clarrett is TB1, and can be connected toa TB1 or TB2 port, or a TB3 port with an Apple TB3 adapter. My MB has two TB4 ports, and I'm not seeing any adapters out there. However, there are used Asus TB2 expansion cards on ebay. That should work, right?

I'm dropping this venture. Looks like there isn't much difference in performance. I just thought that since I now had an MB with TB, I should use that since it's faster. Not enough for me to invest any money in.
