How to connect PSU with 4+4 pin connector to GPU with 1x 6 pin and 1x8 pin?

I'm trying to connect a Rosewill Capstone PSU to an EVGA Geforce GTX 760 GPU. I hooked up the 20+4 connector to the MOBO and now all that's left are 2x 4 pin connectors with the letters CP and U1 on them. The GPU has an 8 slot connection and a 6 slot connection. The "U1" 4 pin connector can fit in the 8 and 6 but the "CP" half won't fit in either one. Please help.

The 4+4 pin is for the motherboard, not the gpu.
You want a 6+2 PCIE cable for your 8 pin power slot on the gpu.
Please don't force the 4+4 pin in, it is not designed to go into a 8 pin PCIE slot.

Ok so the two non-removable cables go to the MOBO and then connect the PCIE cable to the PSU and the GPU?

The 4+4 pin is for power the cpu on the motherboard:

The 6+2 pin PCIE connect to the GPU only.

Ok thanks. I've got it all hooked up now but now when I'm turning it on for the first time the VGA LED on the MOBO is red. I checked all the connections, what does this mean?

What motherboard do you have?
You need to refer to the manual to see what it means as each motherboard may use LED for different meanings.
