Hello

1. If I want to buy a laptop/tablet that only has the wifi feature (e.g. Samsung S6 Lite Wifi version tablet, Lenovo laptop) and no sim card slot tray, how to use my data sim card to provide wifi/internet to the laptop/tablet?

2. Is there some device that I can put my data sim inside the device then the device will give out wifi signals, so that my laptop/tablet can connect to the wifi signal to connect to the internet?

3. Is there some device that I can put my data sim inside then I can connect a cable from the device to my laptop/tablet usb port, so that my laptop/tablet can connect to the internet?

4. Does this type of device work?
https://www.amazon.com/300Mbps-Hotspot-Devices-Portable-Business/dp/B0D5R2B6DW/ref=sr_1_14

5. Does this type of device work?
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-LTE-Broadband-Modem-LM1200/dp/B08R813HLW/ref=sr_1_8

Thanks

Why not just use the SIM as intended, in a cellphone, and then use the cellphone as a hotspot?
Hotspot feature drains phone battery pretty fast.
Of course they work.
If you have 4G LTE signal coverage in your area.

If cellphone is a hotspot, I think cellphone might get hot and battery might drain faster.

I am thinking of getting a data sim card that has higher data GB just for using with laptop/tablet.
True, but then you have the option to use the phone for other things. You can also attach a power supply to the phone when needed. You would have to power any other device as well.

Would it be better or worse to buy a cheap used android phone (no more android updates) to put in data sim card and use the hotspot feature only, instead of buying the device in Q4. Q5.?

Can this device work without connecting anything to the LAN port and WAN port? https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-LTE-Broadband-Modem-LM1200/dp/B08R813HLW/ref=sr_1_8
That device acts like a cable modem that would attach to your current router. It does not appear to provide the wireless signal to connected devices (rather, your router would do that).

When you use a cellphone as a hotspot, it becomes the router for connected devices.

I wouldn't buy the latest/greatest device in terms of a phone. Something 2-4 generations old should be okay. Buy an unlocked device and stick you SIM into it. Voila!

They all work same way, 4G LTE is standard everywhere and modems work on wide frequency range.
Perhaps I don't totally understand this or didn't phrase it properly. Don't you still need an account with a cell provider to use a sim card to access their system? I just mean that I would consult with the cell provider who holds my account before connecting any new equipment to their system. For what I've heard, some cell providers want you to have a second account if you're using a cell modem type of device since they expect you to use it more and obviously want to charge you more money.

Yes but if you have a SIM card that means you got it from a internet provider and you must have an account. Any SIM card that gives you internet on a phone, will do same in one of those modems-

Yes. You must have an account associated with the SIM. There is no free access otherwise.

So are you saying that the cell provider won't care whether you're using the sim card in a phone or modem? Or is that covered in the terms of service for an account. I'm still stuck on the idea that cell providers seem to want people to have a second account for a cell modem because they anticipate higher usage and want to charge people more money. Or are you saying that if the cell provider doesn't know that you're using the sim card in a modem it will be OK.

They shouldn't as long as you are paying for some level of service. As this would be very much a data heavy device, I hope you have some sort of "unlimited" plan for that SIM (number).
