The Video on my wifes computer, running Windows Vista, has stopped working. I have a new computer coming for her, but I need to get her files off the computer so I can load them on the new computer. How can I do this when I don't have any video display on her computer?

IF desktop just get a very cheap addin graphics card and install it to the old system and use it for the display (should be able to find a video card for under $10 since it does not matter what the capabilities are just get the cheapest you can find to get it done.
OR
Once the new system arrrives remove the HDD from the old system and install as a second HDD on the new system and then move the files (Will need to take ownership of the files and ensure they are not marked hidden, read only)
IF a laptop - purchase an adapter to adapt the laptop HDD to an external USB drive - they have several different types which would work depending on what type of HDD you have ( ie. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182145 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812119152 for example ) Second link is a more universal type product that can be used for Laptop or Desktop IDE or SATA drives so comes in handy if using many types of drives that you may want to get info from where 1st is just an external enclosure for using a laptop HDD as an external USB drive but either would work -- Then use it to attach the old HDD to the new system as an external HDD and transfer the files )

This is a desktop unit and the monitor is still working fine when attached to another computer.
I did purchase a USB to USB adaptor to try to capture the files, but I can't load the disc to the old computer because the video output of the old computer is not functioning. It seems the best thing for me is to get a vedio card and install it for now.
