How to DELETE a virtual storage drive from VM Ware

I realize this may be a silly question, but I just cannot find instructions on how to DELETE a virtual HDD from computer.

I see many instructions on how to remove the HDD from the VM but after creating the virtual storage HDD, the file remains in the physical host drive using up valuable resources of the physical HDD.

As practice, I created several 10g virtual disks to play with, after removing them from the Virtual OS, I still see several 10g files in the directories.

Is it as simple as just deleting those 10g files, will that solve my issue

I am concerned with left over configuration files in VM Ware seeking the virtual HDD i previously created. I took that same approach with deleting a Virtual OS and it still shows up in VM Ware seeking the previously created OS name. I don't want to make that same mistake the the virtual HDD>

I tried everything and cannot remove the name of the previous OS. I know that's a different subject, but the same concept applies.

The only way that VMWare sees the VM(or that a VM even exists) is through a configuration (vnx) file. These are usually stored on the data store along with the virtual drive file (vmdk).
