[SOLVED] How to disable 0 rpm fan mod in gpu bios ?

Hi,

I have a radeon rx 570 mini pulse and I have some trouble to make it work. The problem is that the gpu completly freeze (screen lock) frequently, like every 30 seconds and after that I can use the PC as normal for 15 seconds. I tried the card on different pc and every time I had the same problem.

I found that thoses freezes were cause by the 0 rpm mode of the gpu fan. I dont know why but when it spins the freezes are gone. I managed to change the fan curve on amd radeon setting to use the pc but when I reboot or startup the pc the fan curve is set to default again and my freezes are back. The amd wattman settings are set to default at every freeze so it's hard to use the pc.

The card was bricked with a mining bios and I flash the original bios below to make it work :

I found that there is another bios with 1500 Mhz on memory, how do I know wich one is the good one with the stickers on the card ?

My question is : Is there a way to disabled the 0 rpm mod in the gpu bios ?

It seems intuitive: the only way to disable the 0 RPM mode in the BIOS is to mod the BIOS and re-flash the card to the modded BIOS. Updating BIOS on a GPU (as you did to recover from the mining BIOS) is one thing, updating to a self-modded BIOS is quite another and not recommended for a beginner. If you want to learn this sort of thing the first skill would be to learn how to recover from a bad BIOS update to a GPU.

Otherwise, MSI Afterburner has a setting to disable Fan 0 RPM. It's not going to change BIOS, it just over-rules the on-board fan speed controller with software. It works very well with my RX5700, although it doesn't have any...

First and foremost you will need to swap out the PSU in your build, since you're advised to have a PSU that has at least 550W of power from a reliably built PSU. You have a CX unit which is the worst kind of PSU known to the community. When you used the GPU in question on another rig, did it have a reliably built PSU powering the entire system with ample wattage? The fact that the card was used for mining(since it came with a VBIOS meant for mining) I'd say that the GPU has lived it's life and is time to retire it.

I'd advise against flashing the VBIOS since most people have ended up with a bricked GPU/a paperweight.

You can make a fan curve using MSI's Afterburner, Sapphire's Trixx app. Sapphire have two versions of the ITX listed, which one do you have?

Hi thank you for your response,

In my main rig I have a EVGA 600W power supply, and when I used the gpu on this rig I had the same problem. In this rig I usualy have a rx 580 and it works perfectly fine with this psu.

After I flash to my actual vBIOS I saw that 2 versions of this card exist. The thing is I dont know which one my card is and I dont know how the stickers on the back could help me find out, maybe I used the wrong version vBIOS ?
