How to Disable Bing Desktop in Windows 8/Windows 8.1

Bing Desktop can be accessed to change wallpapers, configure an automatic wallpaper changing schedule, search the web, etc.

If you want to take a break from Bing Desktop, instead of uninstalling the software from the computer altogether, you can just disable it on Windows 8/Windows 8.1. When Bing Desktop is disabled, it no longer initializes during the system start-up.

You can re-enable the application easily without having to install the software all over again.

Here is how you can disable Bing Desktop from your Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer:

■Log on to Windows 8/Windows 8.1 using the administrator account.
■On the Start screen, press Windows + R keys to open the Run command box.
■In the Run command box, type MSCONFIG in the available field, and press Enter.
