Disabling automatic device driver installation won't prevent basic drivers Microsoft provides, otherwise you'll have no display. Granted, there should still be some functionality until you install full driver.

I have had auto device driver disabled since forever, ever since Vista Win7 etc, on Win 10 currently and driver has not been updated since i manually installed from Geforce the last time. So if they brought this on, disabling this auto thing does work.

Probably what Stryker said. As i said in post #2, disabling automatic driver installation does work. If driver is still being updated it wouldn't be because of that and it's something else.

I have Geforce Experience installed. When a new nvidia driver is released, it is offered, but Geforce Experience will only download the new driver if I manually press the button. If I don't press the button, it will do nothing.

Was wondering that. Don't have GE installed so wasn't sure if it has an automatic install feature. Even if it did it'd be something you'd need to turn on i guess, wouldn't be a default option.

Im thinking op is confused. Generic driver vs full fledged driver.

here's an example. I took a screenshot now. Here we can see nvidia driver 536.99 being offered. But if I don't press the download button, then GE will not get it. :)
