I have an inspiron 6000 with no backlight for LED screen (can't get part in guatemala). I am using a CRT monitor but at startup it will not display CMOS. I am using windows xp sp3. How can I get CRT to display CMOS?

It depends on why it does not display. Either your CRT takes tool long to lock into the signal or your video chip will not use the CRT until after the BIOS initializes.

If the CRT takes too long to sync try hitting the Pause key. You can then hit any other key to un-pause.

If it is the video chip then you are out of luck.

No luck with the pause. Have ATI Mobility radeon x300 and ATI control panel. read in forums that need lower resolution for CMOS..tried 600 x 800 along with DXdiag Nogui checked but really had nightmare...nothing on CRT!!!...2 hours with flashlight trying to read laptop screen luckily and with flashlight i was able to reset dxdiag to normal startup....Fear to try anything else and loose crt screen...

Tried your recommendation. Pause works ( I can see the dell screen stop with the flashlight) but the monitor fails to start until it gets to logon...then you can hear the monitor kick in
