Forgive my outright naivety but I need a device that displays images, particularly jpegs, but feel it would be overkill to have a whole computer. I already have a large monitor so I just need to be able to plug it in to that. What buzzwords should I be searching for? TIA.

Get any Android box, or even a old smartphone if it has tv out.

This is just the first result, search for slideshow and look for an app the suits you best.

I guess if you have time to spare and are into these things you can make a rasppery pi display stuff on a tv (if it has vga) .

I'm finding it difficult to find one with the large, multi-pin, screw-in monitor socket. Are there adaptors that will cater for the newer sockets?

What's that? Can you show a photo?

All digital video cable connectors are multi-pin.
Some are smaller, some larger. It's hard to guess, what you're talking about.
Do you mean VESA to mount it on the back of the TV?

I'm also interested in any way to get my two monitors each showing a different image from the other, at once, all through one computer? TIA.
