How to do mic loopback

Hello, I need to know how to play what is going into my mic in realtime (without recording it if possible)my mic is a USB mic, running vista

In Window 7, right click the sound icon>recording devices>right click your USB microphone>properties>listen tab>tick listen to this device>ok

I think Window Vista will involve similar steps.
