how to dual boot samsung ssd

When I try to install a live Linux CD on my new Samsung SSD 850 PRO (with V-NAND tech) and install it does not give me the option to install besides Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ONLY to overwrite it. HELP PLEASE! I do not want to erase my clean copy of Windows.

Do I need to make separate partitions first? Before, I would just boot from a Live Linux disk to a system that already had Windows on it and it would give me the option the "install alongside windows", after the new Samsung SSD was installed it no longer gives that option, only the option to erase the Win installation. It would take let me choose the size of the partition right then on the spot when I chose to install alongside.
